RMS :: Raw Material Surcharge
RMS is a necessary charge for fluctuation of scrap prices on a monthly basis. Nucor Steel Marion, Inc. currently uses a 3-month rolling average to determine this charge for our highway products. The RMS noted below is for our highway products line only. The RMS is determined differently for all other products and divisions.

Important details on the RMS:

1.  RMS is determined by the American Metal Market Index published monthly out of Chicago.
2.  RMS is set using a a 3-Month rolling average.
3.  RMS is published approximately on the 3rd Monday of each month.
4.  If there is an increase in the RMS, it goes into effect on the 1st of the following month, if there is a decrease in the RMS, it will go into effect on the date the letter is published (approximately the 3rd Monday of the month)
