  • The Nucor Steel Marion U.S. High Tension three-cable barrier system offers a unique combination of effective protection, visual appeal and overall economy in both median and right-side guide rail applications.

It offers a deflection of 2.3m, so it’s strong. Deflection can be varied to meet road/terrain requirements.

Utilizes strong (up to 100 KSI yield strength) yet economical 4 lb. Nucor Marion Steel® Rib-Bak® posts, galvanized for long life.

Its appearance makes it an attractive alternative to traditional W-beam and concrete barriers.

And then there’s cost - 50% to 75% less than W-beam or concrete, and up to 20% less than other high-tension cable systems.

The high-tension system utilizes cost-effective standard ¾” steel cables (pre-stretched cable can be used), tensioned up to 5,600 lbs. (25KN), and attached to Nucor Rib-Bak U-channel steel posts by unique locking hook bolts that absorb energy during crashes. It is anchored at both ends into FHWA approved Cable Release Posts. There’s nothing else like it for performance, looks or savings.

Only the U.S. High Tension Cable Barrier System offers these performance and economy advantages:

Easy to maintain and repair, so the lower installation costs are augmented by continuing savings.

NCHRP 350-approved system that tested superior in deflection tests to competitive cable system that uses plastic inserts instead of hook bolts.

Posts can be driven in soil or installed in sleeves set in asphalt or concrete foundations.

Cables are stretched and tightened on site by turnbuckles. Installers can customize deflections to meet site needs.

The system is visually appealing and doesn't block driver visibility.
